People who set their eyes on Taiwan will probably have Taichung on their itinerary. Taichung is 3 hours away from Taipei and is perfect for a day trip from the capital. The most popular destinations are Houli Flower Farm, Rainbow Village and the Sun and Moon Lake.

My cousin is working in Taichung so we took the time to go to Taichung to meet her and we planned to go to Houli Flower Farm and Rainbow Village together.

All set, we opted to go to Taichung DIY-style, by taking the Bus 1826 from Taipei Main Station, instead of hiring a private car to go there.

First, go to Taipei Main Station and head to the bus platform. I know Taipei Main Station is quite like a maze so don’t hesitate to ask the people around. 🙂

We went to the Kuo-Kuang Bus Station which is located outside the Taipei Main Station. They directed us to go to the one inside the mall instead.

The Bus Station inside the mall looks great and is well maintained just like the main bus station. The air-conditioning and space gives travelers cool head while waiting for their buses.

Taipei to Taichung costs NTD 270 per adult.

We boarded the bus just in time for our 9AM departure.

The bus has mini TV which my nephew enjoyed just seeing himself from the reflection lol

The bus offers high-speed Free WiFi.

The bus leaves exactly as the departure time so be sure to be early or you might miss your bus.

There’s a charging port so no worries about your mobile device getting low power.

It has a comfort room so you don’t have to worry about your weak bladder.

We arrived in rainy Taichung around 12noon, just in time for the 3-hour ride.

The child ticket costs only NTD 155.

The Kuo-Kuang Ticket Office in Taichung Bus Terminal. According to their staff, the last trip going to Taipei is at 11PM.

Lastly, you can use your credit card to purchase the bus tickets. The receipt is for 3 adults and 1 kid.

If you’ve read my Taiwan Itinerary, you probably knew that we failed to go to the Flower Farm and Rainbow Village due to the heavy rain. Despite that, it has been a fruitful tour because we were able to reunite with our relative.

I hope to be back in Taichung again and hopefully on a sunny day. 🙂
