One of the requirements for acquiring a Japan Tourist Visa for the first time is the PSA Birth Certificate and/or PSA Marriage Certificate if one is married. Sadly though, these documents are valid only for 6 months – the Travel Agency would not accept old documents. So if you have an old PSA Birth Certificate or PSA Marriage Certificate – you would have to get a fresh copy of it. Once granted a Japan tourist visa, your next application exempts you from these documents. 🙂
Before you go – bring all your IDs so you won’t have to go back in case they request for another ID/s. Also, bring an authorization letter as well as photocopy of their IDs if you are getting documents for someone. Also bring your own pen but in case you forget it, there are ballpens stationed there but you have to queue.
I’ll share here my smooth walk-in experience in getting a Birth Certificate at PSA’s Main Branch located at PSA Complex, East Ave. Diliman, Quezon City. To get there, you should ride a bus bound for SM Fairview and drop off at V. Luna or SSS Main.
I dropped off at V. Luna Jollibee and crossed the overpass. Walk towards the building.
Get inside the complex until you see this building. Go to the parking floor on the right.
Here at the the Parking Floor, you will surrender one of your IDs and they will give you a temporary visitor pass which you can use to enter the building.
According to this note posted – if you only have 1 ID, you can photocopy it so you can proceed with the application. Also, minors are not allowed for transaction.
Visitor Pass acquired.
Upon entering, you will be greeted by the well-air conditioned building. The guards here are very polite and would answer steps/documents-related questions.
The forms are properly located and there are pens stationed as well. Fill it out properly and proceed to the payment counters.
Look at that, there are 35 counters so transaction is really fast! 🙂
I only paid 155 pesos for a copy of Birth Certificate.
Next step is to proceed at the second floor – climb the stairs found on the left side and go to the releasing area.
The waiting area – it is very spacious and well-air conditioned. Listen carefully for your name to be called and which window you will go to.
There are 35 releasing windows so it a really fast transaction. I spent less than an hour to complete my transaction.
There are also drinking fountains.
The CR is also well maintained and it is super clean!
To summarize, there are only 3 steps : Application Form > Payment > Releasing.
Kudos PSA! Keep up the great work! 🙂
